     Hemp has well-documented medicinal benefits that humans have relied on for centuries. The Hindu religion refers to hemp as "Sacred Grass". The hemp plant has a long and rich history of human use. Its use can be traced as far back as 8000 BCE in Asia. There are remnants of hemp being used in cord and pottery during that time period. There is also evidence of the consumption of hemp seeds, hemp oil being used for cooking, and natural hemp-based medicine. Humans began cultivating the plant over 10, 000 years ago. This cultivation spread out of Asia, to Africa, Europe, and South America. The plant was introduced to North America in 1606. Many of the founding fathers of the United States of America cultivated hemp and advocated for its use. By the 1700s US farmers were required to grow hemp as a staple crop.
